STUN
TUBE :
The Stun Tube consists
of two main parts: the entrance and the stun field. The entrance
has been designed to allow fish rapid entry into the stun tube itself.
They fall directly into the stun field and are rendered unconscious
immediately. The stun field is provided by a pair of electrodes
embedded within the stun tube which is filled with re-circulating
water from the pump The stun tube also incorporates a pair of sensors
which independently monitor the stun field to ensure correct stunning
at all times. The length and diameter of the stun tube depends upon
the size of the fish to be stunned. In the case of Atlantic Salmon
the HS2 is 12" in diameter and the length is nearly 3m.

THE
MAINTENANCE TUBE
The Maintenance pipe
is a flexible polyurethane pipe which connects the Stun Tube and
the Dewatering tank. It incorporates an electrode which provides
the maintenance field. Although the fish are travelling quickly
when they enter the Stun tube the recycled water slows them down.
By the time they reach the Maintenance field the fish are travelling
at a speed that ensures they remain in this tube for the required
treatment time. Being a flexible pipe the system can be arranged
in a number of ways to suit the customer.

CONTROL
ELECTRONICS

The
electronics is completely automatic. It communicates with the
operator via coloured beacons and a 20x4 LCD display. Once
commanded to operate the system will fill itself with water, add
salt to condition its conductivity and advise the operator when
it is ready to stun fish. It continually monitors the voltages and
currents flowing in the system. Using this data it adjusts
the voltage to deliver a humane stunning field at all times. The
electronics also monitors the water and salt levels within the system
and adds fresh or salt water to maintain optimum stunning. The
display is comprehensive but also intuitive - allowing understanding
of the system with minimal training.

DEWATERING
TANK
The De-watering
Tank has a number of functions: it is the reservoir for the recycled
water, it separates the fish from the water, it incorporates a number
of sensors for the electronics and contains the solenoids which
the microprocessor uses to fill the machine and condition the water.
The Maintenance pipe can enter the de-watering tank either from
the left or right to add flexibility to the system foot-print. A
fast release coupling at the base of the tank provides the inlet
to the water pump.

PUMP
Ace Aquatec
do not provide the water pump which is the only moving part of the
system that is essential for its operation. The size and capacity
of the pump depends on the model of HS2. 6" and 8" models
can be driven by a 2" water pump of 600 litres per minute.
The 12" model requires a 3" water pump of between 1,300
to 1,500 litres per minute.
