Aquatec's Humane Stunner Mark 3 (HS3) is targeted at flat fish which
do not pass readily through round tubes. Launched in May 2008, the
pre-production 3 metre machine is the most compact yet made by Ace
Aquatec, with a design capacity of 12 Tonnes per hour.

The HS3
is fully self-contained and can be moved to the harvest tank and
be made ready to operate within minutes.
In common with all Ace Aquatec machines it is fully automated and
simple to operate. Once the machine is in position and connected
to the water and electricity supplies the entrance and exit hoods
are inserted into their slots.
Once the power is turned on the machine waits for the operator to
select OPERATE. It fills itself with water, conditions the conductivity
using the in-built salt tray and, when satisfied, it automatically
starts the recirculation pump. The machine then tests the water
in the stun tray and starts the inclined conveyor when the level
in the tray is adequate for stunning. The lights turn to Green and
harvesting can commence.
During harvesting the machine adjusts its voltage and adds salt
or fresh water to maintain optimal stunning conditions.
REVIEWS:
"The HS3 had all the qualities we look for in a machine.
It was easy to use and did not slow us down. All the fish were stunned
and we did not see any signs of recovery." (Robert Davies
- Selonda UK)
"The HS3 provided a good humane method of stun for the
small turbot being harvested. The stun was quick and effective and
the volume though-put was excellent. The machine would be most appropriate
for larger scale harvesting operations and would significantly improve
welfare compared to current methods." (Jamie Smith - Pinneys
of Scotland)
"I was very impressed with the HS3 stunner. It addresses
an urgent need in the industry for a method that is near instantaneous,
very low stress and looks good to the layman. This is a vital part
of the farming process, makes a huge difference to the quality and
enhances the reputation of the farmers that use them. Seachill actively
push the aquaculture industry to develop humane stunning for all
species and we make it a condition of supply where a suitable method
is available and proven in the field. The HS3 is simple, effective,
well constructed, efficient and most importantly is based on good
scientific research and development that works." (Nigel
Edwards - Seachill)
